The centrepiece of the historic Heap’s Mill redevelopment project, this iconic Grade II listed rice mill is being transformed into a luxury residential building right on the edge of the Royal Albert Dock. Comprising luxury Manhattan, 1 and 2-bedroom apartments, as well as an underground spa and stunning rooftop bar, the Mill is soon to be one of Liverpool’s most desirable residences.
Spiral Stair Core – The area has been cleared of loose materials and made safe for inspections.
Zones 6 and 8 – Demolition has reached down to level 3.
Crews have removed timber flooring, cast iron parts, and general debris.
Zone 1 – Teams are removing cast iron structures on the ground floor.
Extra care is taken not to damage any protected heritage features.
Zone 5 – 18 original columns have been kept across levels 1–3 for future conservation.
Loading Bay Shutters – Large shutters from Beckwith Street and the atrium sides have been carefully removed, stored, and will be reused later, following heritage approval.
Temporary Supports – Window heads have been propped up to keep structures stable during demolition.
Equipment and Next Steps Work is ongoing in zones 2, 5, 6, and 8, using tower cranes TC5 and TC6 for safe, controlled dismantling. Preparations have started for the next construction phase once demolition is complete.
